Biography

Isis Alpoim Scardua was born in João Neiva and raised in Vitória, Espírito Santo, Brazil. She earned her Bachelor of Laws from Faculdade de Direito de Vitória in 2016 and passed the Brazilian Bar Exam, beginning her legal career as a licensed attorney in Brazil.

Before moving to the United States, Isis worked in Brazilian labor and family law. Her experience included advising clients on employment rights, family matters, and dispute resolution.

In 2017, Isis moved to the United States in search of new opportunities. Starting over in another country gave her a personal understanding of the challenges immigrants face while adapting to a new life and navigating an unfamiliar legal system. That experience led her to focus her career on U.S. immigration law.

Isis continued her legal education at Florida International University, where she earned a Master of Laws with a focus on U.S. law and immigration. She served as the Student Bar Association representative for the LL.M. program and advocated for her fellow students.

During her time at FIU, Isis also worked with the Carlos A. Costa Immigration and Human Rights Clinic. She coordinated the Asylum Justice Project, gaining practical experience with asylum cases and immigrant advocacy. Her work at the clinic strengthened her commitment to serving people facing difficult and uncertain circumstances.

After passing the New York Bar Exam, Isis became licensed to practice law in the United States and has worked on family-based petitions, VAWA cases, naturalization, asylum, and employment-based visas.

Isis takes the time to learn about each client’s situation and explain the legal process in a way that’s clear and easy to follow. She understands that every case involves personal decisions that can affect an entire family. Her approach is thoughtful, practical, and grounded in respect for each client’s background and goals.

Isis lives in South Florida with her husband, Lucas, their daughter, Liz, and their dog, Lua.
